1. in company; together.
2. onward, forward, with progressive action.
c. along is an artistic research project about dialogue, intimacy and desire lines by Hanna Wildow — artist/writer based in Stockholm and the director of c.off — organized in collaboration with Sara Kaaman, Joel Galvez, Jess Arndt, Litia Perta, Cristina Caprioli, MYCKET (Katarina Bonnevier, Thérèse Kristiansson, Mariana Alves), Frédéric Gies, Corrine Fitzpatrick, Sara Magenheimer, Stina Nyberg, Laida Aguirre, Katherine Hubbard, Roxy Farhat, Moa-Lina Croall and Patriez van der Wens, produced and administrated by Izabella Borzecka and My Carnestedt. c.along is presented by c.off, and was funded by Swedish National Council for Cultural Affairs, Kulturbryggan, and VINNOVA – Sweden’s Innovation Agency.
During 2014 — 2015 c.along was presented as a series of salons; nine physical acts that explored habitual and performative modes of dialogue. The gatherings were choreographed by Hanna Wildow in collaboration with the ten practitioners and performed by a total of two hundred participants. Provoking a multitude of straying ideas, words and bodily actions; the explorations were thoroughly documented throughout their processes. Generated documents have been gathered, edited and further played on by five other practitioners. Accumulated, they form the digital collective online-choreography named c.along.com.
c.along.com hosts an archive of new and unpublished works; multiple letters, scores, scripts, notations, maps — two sound pieces, one audio guide, five videos, photography — stories written from guts and through elbows, narratives written in the act of falling/failing asleep, endless walkings and talkings, lots and lots of techno, speech and silence, memory works, deaths and bodies in decay, breakups and makeups, and boundaries that fall in to free collapse.
These bent paths ask you to halt for a moment; to stray off from conventional and patriarchal ideas of the efficient, the logical, the linear, and the vertical; notions deeply embedded in a capitalistic, masculine, white, western philosophical canon. Offering a space inhabited by bodies in and out of place; oriented around the body that fails; these trails highlights, pushes and dislocates hierarchies between positions such as curator, artist, writer, philosopher, lecturer, student, spectator, performer, process, work, document…
Acting like a chain-letter; c.along links one body to an other; extending its invitation far beyond its own limitations. It continues to shift, break, slip, and now invites you. This is our proposed starting point; a deviant space from which the world could unfurl.
c.off is an independent non-profit organization, founded by choreographer Cristina Caprioli in 2004; it has been directed by Hanna Wildow since 2013. As a discursive platform for choreographic practices, c.off initiates and presents projects and pieces that embody, illuminate and activate ethnic and cultural multiplicity, gender equality, a critique of norms and border-crossing. c.off produces cross-disciplinary projects and opens up opportunities for a range of different practitioners to revise, problematize, elaborate and renew choreographic, artistic and linguistic practices.
